JT Summer Balcony Gigs

Cobo Bay Hotel has been providing great entertainment to locals & visitors alike for over 25 years, with top local & UK bands, including some of the best tribute acts in the world, playing to over 2000 people from our first floor balcony.

These events have become a major part of Guernsey summers and bring a real carnival atmosphere to the Cobo seafront, whilst raising much needed funds for local charities such as the Guernsey Cheshire Home. Due to the popularity of these events, a section of the Cobo Coast Road at the front of the hotel is temporarily closed off. If you are a resident and would prefer a more peaceful afternoon then we will be more than happy to arrange any trips or excursions you may wish to enjoy.

Book a table for lunch on The Beach Terrace beforehand to enjoy a special 3 course menu for £39 per person before enjoying a great view of the concert with drinks delivered straight to your table.

2016 Balcony Gigs Schedule

Sunday 1st May: King Rat and The Soul Cats supported by Meet Loaf

King Rat and The Soul Cats are one of the island’s most enduring and popular live acts, and we are very excited that the legendary 10-piece band are reforming to kick off our 2016 Balcony Gigs season with a range of Motown & Soul classics. Although their line-up has changed over the years, we look forward to welcoming back some familiar faces who first performed together on our balcony nearly 30 years ago!

Meet Loaf is a one man tribute that has performed at venues throughout the UK, Europe and the Middle East thanks to his impressive vocal range, power, and versatility, as well as his striking resemblance to the man made famous by the timeless ‘Bat Out of Hell’ trilogy.

Sunday 29th May: PURE/DC supported by Buffalo Huddleston Band

PURE/DC perform a high voltage, high octane, rock ‘n’ roll tribute to the legendary AC/DC. The experienced musicians recently had the honour of playing with Tony Currenti, AC/DC's drummer on their first two albums. For those about to Rock, we salute you!

Buffalo Huddleston Band are a local five-piece group who use a variety of instruments and vocal harmonies to craft a unique fusion of multiple genres they describe as ‘folk-hop’, earning the title of ‘Britain’s Best Unsigned Band’ in the process.

Sunday 12th June: The Los Palmas 6 supported by The Reasons

Los Palmas 6 was set up to offer the total Madness tribute, and have gone on to become the best in the world! Their saxophonist, Steve Turner, toured and recorded with Madness for over 8 years, whilst his current bandmates are also brilliant musicians with experience in world tours and major festivals – the highlight, of course, being their appearances in Guernsey over the years!

The Reasons are a 4-piece Jersey band fronted by the brilliant Matt Holcroft, who always guarantee an exciting set packed with hits from the likes of Stereophonics, The Killers, U2, Van Morrison, and many more!

Sunday 3rd July: US4//U2 supported by City Limits

These bands need no introduction to regular Balcony Gig-goers, having produced a number of legendary performances and memorable moments over the years. For those of you unfamiliar with US4//U2, they were formed over 15 years ago and have performed all over the world in that time, taking music fans on a journey through U2's long & illustrious career. City Limits, meanwhile are without a doubt Guernsey’s favourite band, expertly covering hits from the likes of Queen, Coldplay, The Beatles, Oasis and many more.

Sunday 31st July: The Fillers supported by Coolplay

The Fillers are the world’s premier tribute to The Killers, having received glowing endorsements from Brandon Flowers and Ronnie Vanucci Jr since forming nearly a decade ago. They have played to crowds of up to 35,000 people, even filling in for The Killers on occasions, as they recreate the sound, look and feel of the Vegas quartet with stunning accuracy and attention to detail.

Coolplay are the next best thing for fans unable to catch Coldplay’s farewell world tour this summer, having dedicated the last 14 years to emulating songs from their debut album “Parachutes” through to the present day.

Sunday 28th August: Mick Jogger and The Stones Experience supported by Pete Frampton & Friends

After many years fronting The Rollin Clones and then The Rolling Zones, along with solo work, Mick Jogger is back with a group of top class musicians to perform some of the world’s greatest rock tunes with bundles of energy and a touch of humour to give you a real ‘Stones Experience’!

Originally from Guernsey, Pete Frampton carved out a career abroad and returns each year by popular request, surrounding himself with legendary local musicians to jam on classic rock and blues favouritres.
